Standing on the Corner, and other things!

A little photo review of a few small places we visited in December 2013, on our journey across the USA:

Winslow Arizona

Tucumcari New Mexico

~ on Route 66, which has a dinosaur museum well worth visiting, with some gorgeous bronze castings,

and a wonderfully restored classic motel, called the Blue Swallow. Right on Route 66, and just 5 minutes to the dinosaur museum, there are beautiful neon lights, and amazing murals in the garages (yes garages for your motel room!) The rooms are small, but very clean and comfortable. Highly recommended 🙂   Keep scrolling down for more pictures!

Lubbock Texas

~ where we stayed for a couple of nights, because otherwise it was too long of a drive from Amarillo to Austin! But there’s the interesting Buddy Holly museum. We stayed in the charming  Woodrow House Bed & Breakfast.

  1. These pictures are great and
remind me of a fact that bemuses and amuses me. My parents saw Buddy Holly and the Crickets in their youth at East Ham town hall. Yes, East Ham town hall. Last June, Father’s Day if I remember correctly, Kevin and I took them to see Paul Jones and a few other Manfreds as it was the band’s 50th anniversary. Their first gig in all those years. Although they remind me they have seen other acts since on caberet evenings in London! Where on earth then do I get my love of music?
